It seems that RSS has paved way for its star pracharak Narendra Modi by sorting out the differences within the saffron party leaders for his leadership and projection as the prime ministerial candidate. And, though leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the national level may have their reservation or unspoken dislike for Modi – the national head of the party’s election campaign committee, no one would like to come out in the public anymore.

Top leaders of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP met at New Delhi for a coordination meeting on Thursday to discuss forthcoming state assembly and general elections. BJP national president Rajnath Singh said that in the meeting that lasted for five hours “no political issues were discussed.”

RSS leaders including chief Mohan Bhagwat, general secretary Suresh ‘Bhaiyaji’ Joshi, joint general secretary Suresh Soni were present in the meeting. While BJP veteran leader Lal Krishna Advani was conspicuous by his absence, party leaders including Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Narendra Modi, Ananth Kumar and others were present in the meeting. Swaraj said that Advani could not attend the meeting as he had to visit Tamil Nadu to attend a condolence meeting of the state BJP’s general secretary, who was murdered.

Singh also said that issues like national security and depreciating condition of country’s economy were discussed in the meeting. However, sources close to the development said it was also discussed in the meeting that there should not be ‘internal issues’ about the prime ministerial candidate; instead, the party should focus on winning the elections and becoming the largest party with maximum seats in the parliament to form the government.

The RSS and BJP have also discussed on increasing Modi’s popularity across the country to win the assembly elections in various states and build up party’s strong base in these state for the parliamentary elections.

After the meeting, Modi met the chief of 20 sub-committees for the election campaign and reviewed the progress of activities in their respective areas. “The works of election campaign sub-committees were reviewed in the meeting and it was decided to highlight the condition of India’s degrading rupee against US dollar, internal and external security issues as the failure of UPA government among the people.”
