Rs 98L heist: Accused used his own bike

Three people were involved in the Rs98 lakh cash robbery case from a cash management firm that took place on February 23, Vastrapur police said on Monday.

The robbery included the driver of the van, and one of the two bikes used by the other two belonged to the accused, the cops said after another round of probe into the big heist.  The driver of the van, identified as Sudhirkumar Vaghela, spiked the tea offered to his three colleagues, including a gunman. Vaghela fled spot with an iron chest, containing cash after sitting on one of his friend’s bike.

Cops said the two other accused have been identified as Mukesh Yadav and Punit Rathod. All three were living in a rented apartment at Kishnadham Society in Chandkheda. The accused has been following the van that was carrying the cash. Sudhir and Rathod stole the iron chest from the van and made off in a bike.

COPS ON HUNT

  • “Splendour bike used for operation belonged to accused Yadav,” Vastrapur police station cop said.
     
  • Police suspect that trio might have fled to Uttar Pradesh after committing the crime.
