Responded to all questions, submitted all papers: Teesta Setalvad

Social worker and founder of Sabrang Trust, Teesta Setalvad and her husband Javed Anand in a release said that they have responded to the best of their knowledge to questions put to them by a team of Ahmedabad Crime Branch.

Setalvad and her husband Anand were grilled by the crime branch on Friday for eight hours. The summons to the two came in connection with an FIR filed by Setalvad’s former aide Raees Khan in which he has accused the activist of fraudulently obtaining Rs1.4 crore from the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) for the trust between 2010 and 2013. The FIR alleges that the activist misused funds meant for educational projects.

The release from Sabrang said apart from answering questions, the two also handed over several documents including utilisation certificates (for funds received from MHRD) and activities report (for funds utilised). 

Several other documents sought by the investigation officer will be provided within the next fortnight, the release said. A Utilisation Certificates is a financial report detailing the amounts received in three instalments received by Sabrang Trust from the MHRD Ministry during the grant period.
