Ahmedabad’s wait for monsoon rains is going to be stretched by at least nine more days as the weatherman has predicted that full-fledged rains will not start before June 28.
In June so far, city has received only 9.9mm average rainfall against the monthly average of 34.1mm. The Met department has forecast chances of light rain in isolated parts of city on June 25.
“Until June 25, partly cloudy days are expected throughout the week. Some parts of Gujarat, especially the Saurashtra region, are expected to receive rainfall,” said Jayanta Sarkar, director, India Meteorological Department, Ahmedabad.
According to chief meteorologist at Skymet Weather, Mahesh Palavat, city will witness rainfall on June 28 and 29 and not before that. “At present, south-westerly winds from the Arabian Sea are causing humid weather in city and have also lowered the temperature,” added Palavat.
Rajkot-based weather analyst Ashok Patel said there is no possibility of rain till June 25. “However, isolated places across state may receive some rainfall,” he said.
