A day after heavy rain brought the city to a standstill, Amdavadis got a breather on Sunday with clouds keeping the weather pleasant throughout the day. A few places, however, recorded moderate to heavy rainfall early in the morning, the rest of the city remaining cool the entire day.

Water levels have receded from the low-lying areas though the potholes and craters, created in the aftermath of the Saturday downpour, continued to challenge commuters, particularly the two-wheeler riders. A pleasant weather also brought citizens out on the roads even in the early morning despite it being a Sunday. Evenings were the usual chock-a-block with most people out on the street for a stroll or dinner. Interestingly, the restaurants that usually run a full house on weekends had a bad day on Saturday as heavy rains kept the patrons away.

“I was caught in the traffic on Saturday and had vowed to stay at home on Sunday too. But Sunday weather was so pleasant that I couldn’t resist the temptation to go out and went out with my friends for a ride,” said Rohit Gopalan, a resident of Satellite.

City recorded a maximum temperature of 29.9° Celsius, 4 degrees below normal. Met department has predicted a few spells of rain for the city on Monday with some areas expected to get heavy rain. Across the state 18 districts received rain on Sunday with the highest in Porbandar that got 81mm rain followed by Bhavnagar that got 77 mm rain. The city has so far received 352mm rain, 134 mm excess of what it usually receives by this time.

State is expected to get moderate to heavy rainfall almost in all districts with some areas including Diu and DDNH expected to get very heavy rainfall.
