After the historic win in local bodies’ polls in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a dig at Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi saying that he could not save his party in his parliamentary constituency Amethi and still dreamt of winning Gujarat polls.

Holding a press conference soon after results were declared, the Chief Minister said that it was a historic win for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh after nine months of its rule in the state. “The results should be an eye-opener for those who are dreaming of a victory in Gujarat. He (read Rahul) could not win a single mayoral seat and was wiped out in his own parliamentary constituency in Amethi and still talks about winning Gujarat polls,” said an upbeat Yogi.

Yogi admitted that the results in Uttar Pradesh will certainly have a bearing in the Gujarat Assembly polls. “People in Uttar Pradesh have rallied behind the policies and development agenda being pursued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government at the Centre and state. Results will certainly impact Gujarat polls,” he said.

Attributing his historic win to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Party President Amit Shah, the Chief Minister said that it was a combination of development policies and poll strategy which enabled the BJP to register a historic win in Uttar Pradesh.

Results in Uttar Pradesh will not only have positive impact on people’s mind in Gujarat to continue their faith in the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but have come as a big boost for party’s preparations for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, added Yogi Adityanath.

“Historic results have increased our responsibility and accountability to stand to people’s expectations in carrying forward the development agenda,” he said while thanking voters, party workers and leaders, media and the State Election Commission for ensuring free, fair and violence-free polls.
