Prez Ram Nath Kovind to felicitate organ donors' kin

President Ram Nath Kovind will felicitate the family members of cadaver organ donors during his upcoming visit to Surat on May 29.

Surat-based Donate Life, which works for organ donation, said in an official statement that family members of 32 cadaver organ donors, whose decision to donate organs of their loved ones had given a new lease of life to many people, would be felicitated at the hands of the President. "In addition to family members of organ donors, doctors, hospitals, Surat police, Surat Municipal Corporation, and Surat airport authorities, who also play an equally important role in making organ donation a success," Nilesh Mandlewala, president of Donate Life, said.

The felicitation ceremony will also have presence of Governor OP Kohli, and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, he said. Donate Life has so far facilitated donation of 249 kidneys, 101 livers, six pancreas, 17 hearts, and 212 eyes.

The same day, President Kovind is also slated to confer the Santokbaa Award on Nobel Peace Prize winner and children's rights activist Kaila-sh Satyarthi, and former ISRO chairman and distinguished scientist AS Kiran Kumar.
