Four people have been charged with physically attacking the Ellis Bridge police around 5 am near Budarpura Railway crossing on Wednesday. The cops saw a man riding a double pillion, and one of them was unconscious.

The two constables — Alpesh Zala and Akhilesh Pandey — who were still doing the patrolling duty asked the trio to come to the police station. The two accused, who called up two friends, also attacked the cops physically. The friends reached before we could take them on and attacked us, one of the cops said.

The police control room which quickly sent a small troop to the spot brought the situation under control. Police have identified the attackers as Vedant Trivedi (20), Harsh Dave (19), Druvik Dalal (21), Deep Parikh(21). The one who was unconscious was identified as Kunj Vyas.

The constables stopped them and asked about the man, during which they came to know the man was drunk and told the men to follow them to the police station.

A.S Patel, Inspector of Ellis Bridge police station, said, "When the police asked the accused to come to the police station, people had gathered at the spot."
