Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to poll-bound Gujarat, his home state, will start on Saturday and meanwhile, he will give away Diwali gifts to the electorate in the first week of December. Modi will inaugurate or perform ground-breaking ceremonies for public utility projects like the international airport, the cable-stayed bridge over Arabian sea, medical colleges, and also flag off the new train connecting Gujarat and Bihar.

Modi will also visit his hometown Vadnagar for the first time after becoming PM.

On Saturday morning, he will reach Dwarka, a famous pilgrimage on the western part of the nation, and offer puja at Dwarkadheesh temple. He will then lay the foundation stone for the 4-km long cable-stayed bridge connecting Beyt Dwarka and Okha and the project will cost around Rs900 crore.

The Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Chemicals & Fertilizer, Mansukh Mandavia said, "The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for four national highways worth Rs5,825 crore at Dwarka. He will also lay the foundation for construction of a cable-stayed signature bridge between Beyt Dwarka and Okha on NH-51. The project cost is Rs 962 crore. The road projects have been estimated to cost Rs 5,000 crore."

Other projects for which foundation will be laid include the four laning of the 116.24km of Porbandar-Dwarka section of NH-51 at a cost of Rs 1,600 crore, 2/4 laning of 93.56 km of Gadu-Porbandar section of NH-51 at a cost of Rs 370 crore and six-laning of 201.31-km Ahmedabad-Rajkot section of NH-47 and NH-27 at a cost of Rs 2,893 crore.

In the afternoon, at 1:30pm, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for international green field airport to be prepared near Rajkot at the cost of Rs 2,500 crore. He will also dedicate to the nation a new building at IIT in Gandhinagar in the evening. He will distribute e-tablets to health workers and also launch the programme for digital literacy in rural Indai, PMGDISHA.

On October 8, the second day of his visit, he will visit his home town, Vadnagar in Mehsana in the morning, where he will inaugurate the new Rs 500-crore civil hospital and medical college. The PM will also gift projects worth Rs 50 crore to the people in his hometown. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Rs 1,211-crore Devi Ni Mori International Buddhist complex near Shamlaji in Aravalli district.

The Prime Minister will reach Bharuch in the afternoon. Here, he will lay the foundation stone of a Barrage near Bhadbhoot village on the river Narmada river in Bharuch to be built at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore. Following this, PM Modi will also flag off the Antyodaya Express to run between Udhna station near Surat to Jaynagar in Bihar.
