Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it was time for the blue revolution in Saurashtra and pushed for the development of the Gujarat coast — commercial, industrial and maritime activities.

Modi was addressing a rally in Amreli district, which was attended by farmers. The district is dominated by the Patel community that is under the influence of the reservation agitation run by PAAS leader Hardik Patel. Modi's visit is considered to be very important, just before the Gujarat Assembly polls scheduled in December.

Amreli also has a considerable population of the Kolis (fisherman community) after the Patel community and so the PM stressed on blue revolution. "This is the time to talk of a blue revolution after the green and white revolutions in Gujarat. The Centre has prepared schemes to develop the 1600km-long coast of Gujarat with industrial and commercial activities. Gujarat will flourish more."

He added, "There is scope for sweet revolution too. Farmers can earn Rs 2 lakh per annum through apiculture. Other regions in the country has produced honey and Gujarat should look at this too."

Modi added, "The district needs more concentration as people here have a revolutionary mindset. I have been focusing more on the development of this district since I was the CM of Gujarat and frequent the place. I am the first PM of this country who is visiting this district."

Modi inaugurated an Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee building prepared at the cost of Rs 150 crore, a honey-production plant in Amar Dairy and inaugurated water conservation projects prepared by NGOs here.
