Fed up with no implementation of the Gujarat Self-Financed Schools (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2017, a group of parents gathered near Kochrab Ashram to stage a protest against the government and the schools. The parents association, Parents Ekta Manch, which had called for the protest brought 11 donkeys to portray the situation of those running the present government.

Speaking about the same, Pooja Prajapati, President, Parents Ekta Manch said, "It is over 11 months that the government is fooling the parents in name of this Act. There has been no implementation till date and every other day either the parents are asked to pay a first-quarter fee or provisional fees. The District Education Officers act as agents between the schools and the government.

The idea was just to portray how donkeys do not realize the weight they carry and do not move until the time they are beaten, our ministers are also doing the same. Not just ministers, even the MLA's are responsible for not intervening into this matter. Education is a subject that affects every household. Even then, no MLA, who was begging for votes during elections, are not seen now", she added.

Nearly 50 parents had joined the protest and were seen chanting slogans and holding placards. The parents have also demanded resignation from the ministers if the Act is not implemented soon.
