In a full-blown drama that continued for hours on Monday, PAAS leaders were asked to vacate a hall that they had booked for a meeting to discuss the future course of action for the release of Kathiriya. The PAAS leaders were asked to leave the hall when their meeting had just started leading to a heated argument between the hotel administration and the PAAS leaders. When the PAAS leaders refused to vacate the hall, the hotel administration switched off the lights of the meeting hall.

While PAAS leader Dinesh Bambhaniya alleged that the hotel administration was coerced by the state government to do so, hotel administration said they had not given them the permission to hold a political conference.

Bambhaniya pointed out that it was not a meeting of BJP, Congress, or NCP, but a meeting of the Patidar community. Hotel administration, however, argued that the organisers had said that it would be a get-together of 20-25 people, but at around 1 pm, they came to know that it was a political meeting. Notably, PAAS leader Hardik Patel was also present in the meeting.

Rally in city for Kathiriya's release

Bambhaniya on Monday revealed that they are planning to organise a silent rally on November 26 in Ahmedabad to push forth their demand for the release of Kathiriya. The rally would comprise around 50 vehicles and would start from Sabarmati Jail to Gandhi Ashram. Supporting the move, Patel said that he would also take part in the meeting.

State hell-bent to keep Kathiriya behind bars

It seems the state government is hell-bent to make sure that Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti's convener Alpesh Kathiriya remain behind bars, at least for the time being. Just a day before the Gujarat High Court is expected to pronounce its judgment in the bail plea filed by Kathiriya, the latter was arrested and taken into custody by the Surat Crime Branch on Monday. The move essentially means that even if he is granted bail in the sedition case lodged with the Ahmedabad Crime Branch due to the widespread violence across the state that erupted in 2015 during Hardik Patel's quota stir, he will still remain in jail.
