PAAS city convener attacked with knife

Ashish Patel, the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener for Ahmedabad was attacked by some unidentified people on Wednesday afternoon. According to a complaint registered with Ramol Police station, Patel stated he was on his way from Niraj Chokdi to his house, Pushpa Residency, in Vastral, when the attack took place.

"Two people came on a two-wheeler and hit me from behind. Suddenly, five or six people who may have been following the men on the two-wheeler also began raining blows on me. They used knives and pipes. I fell down and lay on the street shouting for help," said Patel recounting the incident.

Some people immediately gathered, as the goons ran away, Patel said. The attack was a result of his association with PAAS that has been at loggerheads with the government over its demand for reservation for Patels. Patel was first taken to LG Hospital and then shifted to a private hospital. His condition is not serious. KS Dave, of Ramol Police station, said the police have identified two of the accused.
