After the election dates were announced on October 25, the city's police department had beefed up the security in the city.
Around 113 checkpoints were made at the entry and exit points of the city, during the checking in November the police officials held 3,530 accused and registered 3,464 cases of prohibition against them. Around a total of the Rs 2.3 crore worth of valuables were seized in prohibition case, which comprised of alcohol, vehicles, cash and mobiles from the accused.
As per senior police officials, usually, during the month of December, the cases of prohibition go up to 3,000, due to the New Year and Christmas celebrations. But the poll-bound city saw 3,464 cases in November, while in October 1,788 cases were registered.
PB Rana, ACP of Prevention of crime branch, said, "Due to strict checking is done by the city police department, more cases of prohibition have been registered in November.
Each and every police station staff is deployed in the checking in two shifts for 24 hours at 113 checkpoints of the city."
In November 29,000 litres of country-made alcohol, worth Rs 3.3lakh and 18,000 bottles of IMFL worth Rs 64lakh and also Rs 35 lakh in cash were seized from the 3,530 accused during prohibition. During the month, the city police carried out 5,000 raids in the city.
Maximum cases were registered in Shahpur, Sardarnagar, Sola, Gomtipur, Chandkheda, Naroda, Nikol, Bapunagar, Odhav, Ranip, Maninagar, Amraiwadi, Meghninagar area of the city.
