Taking the ordeal of farmers across Gujarat to the forefront, quota stir leader Hardik Patel will launch an agitation rally against state government on Wednesday. The rally will kick off at Vanthali town in Junagadh district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Statue of Unity on the same day in Gujarat.

Patel took to social media on Sunday and announced the rally.

Talking to DNA, Patel said, "Our statue of Sardar Patel will be kept at Vanthali and farmers who participate in the rally on Wednesday can garland and offer floral tribute to the sculptor of Union of India. He was a leader of the farmers and always made worked for the welfare of farmers. He is adorable and that is why we will also launch our agitation on his anniversary taking his principles ahead."

"Our demands are for the farmers so that they get good price for their agricultural produce, farming tools and other necessary items at subsidised rates and power and water for irrigation with regular supply. The government has failed on this front," he added.

Hardik, who hailed the BJP government as 'anti-farmer', said the party always exploited the farming community. He also countered the allegations by his former colleague Dinesh Bambhaniya.

Bambhaniya had alleged that Hardik had splurged money on personal medical treatment at Bengaluru-based Nature Cure centre and danced in a pub in New Delhi after his false propaganda of indefinite fast in Ahmedabad that he had held a few days back.

"I do not want to make any counter statement, but people tried to do mudslinging on me. I will never deviate from my path. My intentions are clear and no one can defeat me by the onslaught of words," Patel said on Facebook.
