What is Jantri?

Jantri rates are the minimum price of land/building in a particular area. Jantris are the government documents which specifies the market price of the land and buildings. On the basis of Jantri rates, the government decides the stamp duty to be collected during the selling of land or building.

Recently, when the draft budget of civic body was presented, municipal commissioner Mukesh Kumar – had revoked the relief of 50% on tax based on Jantri rate.

Sharma has submitted a letter seeking mayor Gautam Shah to interfere in the matter. In the letter, Sharma has also mentioned that instead of giving tax waiver, they are taking back the relief.
