Northerly winds bring chill in Ahmedabad

India Meteorological Department says that sudden feeling of cold weather was just a one-day phenomenon and it would be normalized Saturday onwards

Citizens got the real feel of winter on Friday, as northerly winds chilled the city. Even though mercury showed 11.4 degree Celsius, it felt as if it is colder. Nalia in Kutch recorded 5.8 degree Celsius. Other cities of the state also witnessed cold weather. India Meteorological Department said that sudden feeling of cold weather was just a one-day phenomenon and it would be normalized Saturday onwards.

Temperature in other cities also remained low. These include Deesa ( 10.1 degree Celsius), Vadodara (13.2 degree Celsius), Rajkot ( 11 degree Celsius), Bhuj ( 12.4 degree Celsius), Surendranagar ( 11.8 degree Celsius), Kandla – airport ( 11 degree Celsius), Valsad ( 11.1 degree Celsius), Diu ( 11.8 degree Celsius), Gandhinagar ( 13 degree Celsius) and Vallabh Vidyanagar ( 12.4 degree Celsius).

A senior official of IMD in Ahmedabad said that the feeling of severe cold is a result of cold winds coming from northern India. "Temperature across the state will rise a bit from Saturday onwards," said the official. The temperature in Ahmedabad is likely to remain around 13 degree Celsius.
