The Narol police on Wednesday arrested two men stealing two-wheelers and selling them on online marketplace OLX as demo vehicles. Police said the accused made fake RTO documents and insurance papers to sell the stolen vehicles. Police seized eight vehicles sold by the duo.

The accused have been identified as Aiyaz Shaikh, resident of Gomtipur, and Gulfam Qureshi, resident of Danilimda. Both were arrested from Narol.

Police said the accused stole eight two-wheelers from Maninagar, Narol, Navrangpura, Naranpura and Karanj in the past six months. They generally targeted brand new vehicles. "The accused sold the vehicles to customers as demo vehicles and gave them the forged documents after receiving payment. All the eight vehicles were sold to customers and around a total of Rs 3.5 lakh cash was taken from them," said Inspector JA Yadav, Narol police station.

Further investigation revealed that a woman identified as Tabsunbanu Ansari was also involved in the crime. Police is looking for her. "The accused had even made fake accounts on OLX using fake names. Till now, we have come to know they have sold eight vehicles, but we suspect more vehicles were stolen and sold in the same way." Jadav added.
