MoUs signed for Rs 3,700 cr investment in Gujarat

MoUs, proposing investment of Rs 3,710 crore in Gujarat, were signed between three companies and the state government in the presence of chief minister Vijay Rupani, on Tuesday.

The first MoU was signed by Sanghi Industries for doubling capacity of its cement plant at Sanghipuram in Kutch from 4 million tonne per annum to 8.6 million tpa with an investment of Rs1,500 crore. The expansion would be completed by 2020, and would create 350 employment opportunities.

Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Limited signed two MoUs – one for production of salt and marine chemicals in Kutch with an investment of Rs550 crore, and the other for expansion of its soda ash plant in Sutrapada in Gir Somnath district, with an investment of Rs600 crore. The Kutch project, expected to be completed in 2021, would create 1,000 jobs, while the second would create 2,000 jobs by 2020.

Another MoU was signed with Mahansaria Tyres, which plans to set up a tyre tube and other rubber products’ plant at Panoli in Bharuch. The company would invest Rs1,060 crore for the plant, which would create 2,000 jobs upon completion.
