More ministers assume office, Gujarat government in place

The Gujarat government, which had gone under the model code of conduct, resumed its activity on Monday. The ministers were busy managing poll affairs and had disappeared from their office. Butafter a gap of two months, the state government returned to normalcy as all ministers took charge, except the Chief Minister.

The CM was in Kutch for the inauguration of education project and will assume office on Tuesday. The well-wishers of the ministers and other people also were seen in the crowd and bureaucrats also held meetings with ministers.

The deputy CM Nitin Patel, who was sulking after less important portfolios, joined his office in regular mode as he bagged the finance department on Sunday after a tug of war. Patel said, “I have got the responsibility of the finance department and as the budget of the state will be presented in February, we have put the required process on fast track. Of course, budget related work had started in September, but that went in slow mode due to polls.”

Four cabinet ministers and two ministers of state level had taken the charge of their office after the portfolio allocation and those were agriculture minister RC Faldu, revenue minister Kaushik Patel, education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, energy minister Saurabh Patel, home minister Pradipsinh Jadeja and women and child development minister Vibhavari Dave.

Rest of the ministers appeared on Monday and performed the required formalities. The first cabinet meeting after portfolio allocation will be held on Wednesday and the government can call a short session of the Assembly in a few days.
