A twenty-seven-year-old mentally ill woman was reported to have wandered into someone else’s house on Thursday. The house belonged to a  Meghaningar couple.

When the police officials reached the spot and called the medical emergency services, they took her to the Civil Hospital.

The unidentified and mentally ill woman was found in a deplorable condition on the terrace of Shekhar and Suman Kumar (names changed as per their request), the couple who live in Meghaningar.

Early in the morning, Suman had gone to hang wet clothes to dry after doing laundry.

She saw the unidentified woman sitting in the corner with her hair down and with torn clothes. A terrified Suman screamed out loud and alerted her husband who then called the police.

The police said she did not have any identity documents. They realised that she needed medical attention and shifted her to the Civil Hospital.

They also chipped in and bought some new clothes for the woman.

“We could see that her outfit was torn and that she had soiled her own clothes. So we all bought her some decent clothes to change into since we couldn’t just let her keep wearing the ones we found her in,” said AD Gohil, Police Inspector of Meghaningar police station.

Since the woman couldn’t speak at all, the officials are facing challenges in identifying her, but the process has started.

Currently, she is admitted to the Civil Hospital and is being kept under observation.

There are women police officials who are keeping her under watch and caring for her. Police officials also said that non-cognisable offence has been registered with regard to this case.
