A 34-year-old paralyzed woman was suffocated to death by her husband in her house in Vastral area of Ahmedabad. The police said the accused killed his wife because of her medical condition.

A complaint was lodged in connection with the incident with Ramol police station on Sunday and the accused was subsequently arrested.

The accused has been identified as Nimesh Bhadauria, a resident of Kalpath Residence in Vastral and native of Madhya Pradesh.

The deceased has been identified as Sunita Bhadauria. As per police, Sunita had developed paralysis three years ago and her husband was taking care of her.

The murder took place on September 9, and a case of accidental death was reported at the time.

However, the victim's father had suspected foul play. He had held that his daughter death could not have been accidental because she not do anything without her husband's help as 90% of her body was paralyzed. He had demanded an investigation into the matter.

That victim's body was then sent for postmortem and help was sought from the FSL team. In December, FSL reports revealed that it was not an accident, the victim was suffocated to death. After the development, the police lodged a case of murder and started an investigation.

Investigators found out that the victim's husband had left the city soon after her death to go back to his native place. They found this suspicious and sent a team to Madhya Pradesh, where Nimesh was arrested. He was later brought back to Ahmedabad for interrogation.

Inspector KS Dave, Ramol police station, said: "During interrogation, Nimesh broke down and confessed to killing his wife. He said she had become a burden to him. For the past three years, Nimesh was taking care of her and he had gotten frustrated with it. It took three weeks for the accused to plan the murder and finally execute it."
