Man murdered for Rs 10,000

Kalupur police station received a muredr complaint on Saturday after a jeweller was stabbed to death by another in a squabble over money.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon, in Ratanpole area of Relief Road. The deceased was identified as Subhas Chandran Soni, a resident of Sarjan Tower of Memnagar. He has a jewelry shop named Gurukurpa Touch in Rangoli Chambers.

According to the police, a couple of days back, Soni had given Rs 10,000 cash to the accused identified as Jayesh Soni after he promised to return it the next day. Despite several calls, Jayesh didn't return it. On Friday afternoon, Jayesh came to Soni's office and a dispute broke out. Jayesh pulled out his knife and stabbed Soni.

Other shopkeepers came to know about the incident and rushed to the spot, Meanwhile, Jayesh managed to flee from the spot leaving Soni covered in blood. Soon after the incident, Soni was rushed to VS Hospital for treatment.

Kalupur police reached the spot and lodged a case of attempt to murder against the accused. Later that night, Soni died during treatment and police lodged a case of murder against the accused and started an investigation.

RG Desai, Inspector of Kalupur police station, said, "We have recovered a CCTV footage of the case, and during investigation, it was revealed that four were involved in the case, of which two were present during the attack. They have been identified as Mukesh Soni and Jayesh Soni. The dispute involved money."
