Man abducts, rapes teen to force her into marriage

In love with a 16-year-old who did not share his feelings, a man in Surat allegedly abducted and raped her. After committing the crime, the accused demanded that the girl marry him and threatened her of dire consequences if she refused. He and two of his accomplices were arrested on Thursday.

Priya (name changed), a resident of EWS colony in Bhestan, was walking towards her house on Wednesday evening, when her neighbour, Mohammad Malbari, and his three friends kidnapped her in an auto.

Malbari took her to a flat located in the colony and raped her. After committing the crime, he asked Priya to marry him or face dire consequences.

Besides him, two women Salma Kadir and Nilofer Shaukatali who were present there also pressurised her to marry Malbari and threatened her.

Priya, somehow, managed to flee from the flat and reach her house. She narrated the entire tale to her parents, who immediately lodged a complaint with Dindoli police. Acting on the complaint, cops arrested Malbari and the two women from the EWS colony. They have initiated the hunt for the auto driver, who helped Malbari.

Sources said that Malbari was in love with Priya. However, the love was one-sided as Priya never reciprocated the feelings.
