The Gujarat police on Tuesday arrested three more people in connection with the LRD exam paper leak case . Among the three is Yashpal Solanki, who was believed to be the brain behind the leak.

The police following the arrest said that it was not Solanki but one Indravadan Parmar who had directed the entire plan although they are still not sure if he is the kingpin of the case.

Apart from Solanki and Parmar, the third person arrested has been identified as Rajendra Vaghela. With this, the total arrest in the case has touched 15.

Parmar and some others hatched the conspiracy to obtain the question paper in advance with the help of a Delhi-based gang, said Gandhinagar Superintendent of Police Mayur Chavda.

"Parmar was in contact with this gang which had promised to provide the question paper for money. He and some of his accomplices, who are yet to be arrested, then decided to send some candidates to Delhi to collect the paper," Chavda said.

Police also said that after his name emerged in the case, Solanki had also attempted to commit suicide. "But before doing so he called up Parmar who not only gave Solanki Rs20,000 to help him while he was on the run but also asked him not to take any extreme steps," the police said.

Police further said that Solanki and others had managed to write down the questions that were leaked to them in a piece of paper despite the gang's warning not to do so. Solanki hid the paper on which he wrote the questions in a packet of chips.

Police also said that Solanki had reached his examination centre on the day of the exam but had to return after it got cancelled. Cops said they will also request the government to debar all the arrested from future exams.

Cops said that two days before the examination, around 30 persons, including some candidates, reached Delhi, where the gang provided them with the question paper and answers.

In return, the gang collected cheques of Rs 5 lakh from each candidate. Police have formed several teams to nab the members of this Delhi-based gang, Chavda said.

As many as 8.75 lakh candidates were to appear for the examination for 9,700 posts of constable across 2,440 centres.
