The Gujarat High Court has asked the Shahpur police to look into the complaint of a petitioner and, if there is any substance into the allegations making cognizable offence, it should register a complaint and investigate the complaint.
Congress leader from Ahmedabad city, leader Rajesh Brahmbhatt, had moved a petition with a prayer to the high court to direct the Shahpur police station to lodge a complaint and investigate the threat calls he is receiving.
The leader has also told the cops to identify the people who have been threatening to kill him. The petitioner suspects that the party's Dariyapur MLA Gyasuddin Shaikh might be the mastermind behind these calls. Shaikh submitted three applications to the Shahpur police dated on 19/11/2017, 5/12/2017 and 12/12/2017. The police, however, are yet to register an FIR. The single bench of Justice JB Pardiwala has directed the Shahpur police to look into the allegations and register cases under Sections of committing the cognizable offence. However, if there is no case it should inform in writing to the petitioner within 30 days saying why the FIR has not been registered.
Notably, the grudge between the two leaders of the Congress had begun before the elections started, when the sitting MLA Gyasuddin Shaikh had alleged Brahmbhatt is indulging into anti-party activity. Brahmbhatt had also filed a defamation case against the Shaikh.
