Bhavnagar police have registered a complaint against minister Vibhavari Dave for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by shouting slogans inside a polling booth during voting.
The incident took place on Tuesday when Dave, who represents the Bhavnagar East constituency in the assembly, went to a polling booth in Bhavnagar in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Dave allegedly chanted the slogan 'Modi hai to mumkin hai' inside the booth before casting her vote. In a video that soon went viral, Dave was also seen making other voters do the same.
The Congress had submitted a complaint against the minister for women and child development for violating the model code of conduct. A police complaint was registered against her on the direction of the election authorities late on Wednesday night.
"We have registered an FIR against Vibhavari Dave for the incident," said a senior officer of the Bhavnagar police.
As per the code of conduct, canvassing is prohibited within a 100-metre radius of polling booths.
