The sound of bursting crackers and beats of drums on Holi marked a phenomenal occasion for BJP cadres in Gujarat. The celebration was to raise a toast to BJP chief Amit Shah's nomination as the party's candidate for Gandhinagar seat in the Lok Sabha polls.

Shah is going to replace party veteran LK Advani, who had won from the constituency with record margins every election since 1998. BJP cadres in Gujarat now believe Shah will register an even bigger record.

BJP in-charge for Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, Pruthviraj Patel, told DNA, "Amit Bhai contesting from Gandhinagar is a great occasion for all of us. He has a great understanding of organisational affairs and his candidature from Gandhinagar would mean a lot for us. We have great confidence that he would win with the record-breaking margin from this seat this time."

"We are in celebration mode and it will go on till May 23 when the BJP will win to form the government again in the Centre. He is an inspiration for many of the cadres like me who have worked closely with him and therefore this is like a moral booster for us," Patel added.

The party organisation in Gujarat has decided to hold a grand welcome for Shah when he comes to file his nomination. The party will hold a roadshow from Ahmedabad airport to the place of nomination filing and it will be attended by thousands of cadres from across the state. It is likely that Shah may visit the city to file his nomination on March 28 or 29.

Party spokesperson Bharat Pandya said, "Amit Bhai is a national leader of the party who has given the guidance to the entire organisation of party across the nation. A great leader like him contesting from Gujarat will create a massive wave across the state. Our confidence for BJP winning from all 26 seats from state, has doubled after Amitbhai's name announced for Gandhinagar."
