Kankaria Lakefront is the place where Amdavadis enjoy their vacation. This Diwali has helped the civic body to earn Rs16 lakh in three days. The place also saw a heavy footfall after the festival days.

"People enjoy coming to the place. One day is not sufficient to see the entire lakefront. Festive seasons such as Diwali and New Year are the best time to hang out with family here. Around 2.12 lakh people visited the place during the four days of Diwali," said Chirag Patel, manager of Kankaria Lakefront.

"We generated around Rs25 lakh due to the heavy footfall. Around 23,000 people enjoyed train rides which have generated an income of Rs 5.80 lakh.

Around 1535 tickets were sold at Kids City, generating income of Rs 1.15 lakh," added Patel.

Shaivy Jaiswal from Baroda, who recently visited Kankaria Lakefront, was amazed when he entered Kids City. "I visited the place last year too. I can't wait to see the buzz here. I love the show with the CM. This is the best thing here. I loved being a criminal lawyer and fighting cases. This is fun with learning." There is only a partial increase in the footfall this year as compared to last year, when two lakh people turned up.

Interestingly, compared to 2016. more people have visited Kids City this year. Around 900 people visited the site last year and around 3000 in 2015.

"The price of the tickets were revised after implementation of the GST. However, the rise in the price of the tickets hardly prevented people from enjoying our services," added Patel.
