Cheteshwar Pujara's wedding reception was held in presence of close friends and family amid tight security.
He is being called India’s next ‘wall’ after the retirement of Rahul Dravid. But here he was on Thursday, standing beside the girl who comprehensively bowled him over. He may have dealt with the swing, turn, bounce and spin with aplomb so far in his short international cricketing career, but Puja Pabari had better of him, of the field.
On Thursday, his wedding reception was a grand affair. It was held at Neel’s City club on the outskirts of Rajkot. The club is owned by Congress MLA Indranil Rajyaguru.
Though the wedding was a private affair and only close family members and relatives attended the star batsman’s wedding, reception witnessed grand presence of his friends and relatives.
However, most Indian teammates of Pujara could not attend the event. The team members are busy with their families before the practice camp starts in Bangalore in a couple of days while his Ranji side is also preparing for upcoming Vijay Hazare tie at Pune.
Only star attraction at the reception was former cricketer Salim Durani. Veteran Saurahstra colleague Sitanshu Kotak was also present as he is not playing in the next match.
Reception was held under tight security with no photographers allowed inside the venue. Pujara, dressed in dark purple-coloured suit along with Puja, his partner for life in pink Sharrara greeted friends and relatives on the stage. Newly-wed coupled exchanged pleasantries with guests thronging to greet them.
The reception was also attended by speaker of Gujarat assembly Vaju Vala, general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vijay Rupani, mayor of Rajkot, Janak Kotak along with other dignitaries and officials. Several office bearers of Saurashtra Cricket Association 9SCA) including secretary Niranjan Shah were present at the reception to bless the couple.
