In a first, GFSU starts programme dedicated to foreign cops

In a first, the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU) is tapping the international market.

A course dedicated to only foreign nationals, police officers, vigilance and judicial officers, will be held twice every year.

The international training programme on 'Advanced methods of crime investigation' will be offered to 40 participants from various countries and will cover topics like psychological methods of interrogation, digital forensics, cyber security, narcotics, psychotropic substances, explosives and post-blast investigation, ballistics including tests of bulletproof materials, white collar crimes, crimes against women, humanitarian forensics, etc.

Speaking about the same, CD Jadeja, registrar of GFSU, said, "Based on the inquiries coming from various countries, the university has decided to conduct at least two international training programmes every year on the topics of international importance."

The participants could be from police, vigilance, security, forensic science defence and other similar agencies. One batch would accommodate 40 officers who would be selected amongst the nominations sent by various countries."

GFSU would like to maximize the cooperation and coordination among the various police and judiciary organizations by optimizing the existing sources and sharing the best practices through its training initiatives. We already have registrations from Turkey, South Africa, he added. The programme will be held from March 11-16. The topics like psychological methods of interrogation, digital forensics, cyber security, narcotics, psychotropic substances, explosives and post-blast investigation, ballistics including tests of bulletproof materials, white collar crimes, crimes against women, humanitarian forensics, etc will be covered.

GFSU has in the past conducted several programmes of training on various topics for officers from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, etc.
