HL: 8 trees uprooted, city receives 20 mm rain

Eight trees were uprooted in the city in last 24 hours due to rain, including four in the west zone. With drizzle continuing till late in the evening, the maximum temperature was recorded three degree below normal at 32.8 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded two degree below normal at 24.9 degree Celsius. Ahmedabad received 20 mm rain in last 24 hours.

For Saturday, Met forecast generally cloudy sky with moderate rainfall. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 33 degree Celsius and minimum around 25 degree Celsius. 

Other parts of the state also received good rain. Rapar of Kutch received highest rainfall across the state in last 24 hours at 7.16 inch. Rapar recorded 187mm rainfall on Friday (41% of its annual average rainfall of 439 mm). 
Porbandar recorded 127mm rain, followed by Ranavav of Porbandar at 92mm and Khambhaliya of Devbhumi Dwarka at 89mm. Mundra of Kutch received 88mm rain.

Main reason for good rainfall is attributed to a low pressure area marked over Saurashtra region and a cyclonic circulation off Saurashtra and Kutch region. A trough line is also running from this system to Bay of Bengal across Ahmedabad. With the combined effect of these weather systems, good rains are already pounding many areas of the state including city. For weekend, Met forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Many of the places are likely to receive moderate rainfall.
