HC issues notices to AMC & builder over illegal construction in Danilimda

The first division bench of chief justice R Subhash Reddy and justice Vipul Pancholi was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) moved by Barkatali Qureshi, who has alleged that an illegal construction is taking place in the Danilimda area.

Gujarat High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and a city-based builder over illegal residential construction in the Danilimda industrial area.
 
The first division bench of chief justice R Subhash Reddy and justice Vipul Pancholi was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) moved by Barkatali Qureshi, who has alleged that an illegal construction is taking place in the Danilimda area.
 
Petitioner has alleged that in the plot number 52, 53, 54 and 55, Mamuji Builders is constructing Lokhandwala residency without any permission. Earlier, AMC had demolished the illegal construction but after some time, the builder started reconstruction on the same plot. 
 
He has further alleged that the developer is using adulterated raw material and if the construction is not stopped with immediate effect, builder will sale it to consumers, whose lives will be at risk.
 
However, the city civic body has already issued notice to the builder to stop the construction but same is not being complied by the builder, neither the corporation is demolishing the illegal reconstruction.
 
Petitioner has pleaded that till the court decides on the merit of the petition, it should stay the reconstruction in the larger interest of public.
