Gujarat: Work on MoUs worth Rs 1.11 lakh cr to start

The Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) of proposed investments of 1.11 lakh crore, signed during last Vibrant Gujarat Summit (VGS) will go under implementation on Thursday. The chief minister Vijay Rupani will inaugurate such 464 projects proposed in past editions of VGS.

Some of these projects includes Phase-II of Maruti Suzuki and other big ticket MOUs. The chief minister Vijay Rupani earlier on January 22, announced that his government was firm on project implementation. Inauguration of the big ticket investments project was kind of white paper issued by Gujarat government over project implementation, CM added.

The chief minister had given the details of 28 projects out of 464 projects to be inaugurated. The government had set the deadline of March 31 to inaugurate the project in different categories such as commencement of production, prepared for implementation and laying foundation stone for the unit.

Sources from the industries department said, "The projects to be inaugurated are including the investments proposed in past editions of VGS too. China based Tsingshan Holding Group's MOU for investing Rs 21,000 crore in Dholera SIR (Special Investment Region) with their partner Chromeni Steel will be part of it."

"The chief minister had called a meeting on Wednesday morning to take stock of the condition regarding the investment intentions signed in last VGS too. He has also directed that the concerned departments should take care of all the requirements of investors and facilitate them so as they could also start implementation," added the sources. The projects that will undergo the implementation include units of Torrent Power Limited, Adani Port and SEZ, Shapoorji Pallonji Private Limited, etc.
