The transport commissioner of Gujarat issued a circular having very strange instructions for Amarnath pilgrims and tour operators.

Conditions like bullet-proof jackets been made mandatory for tourists and drivers and conductors of vehicles for safety were kept by the authorities through the circular. The same was criticised by groups of people who regularly visit the pilgrimage that made the government withdraw the same.

The circular was issued by the commissioner on March 16 that was withdrawn by the government on Saturday.

The minister of state for home Pradipsinh Jadeja made the announcement of the withdrawal of the circular.

The original circular issued was having very strange conditions along with bulletproof jackets for all. The circular also made it compulsory to use buses not older than eight years, with GPS installed and manual stoppers been fitted on the doors from inside.

The government also fixed the age of pilgrims and that was no pilgrim was allowed to go on tour to Amarnath having age below 13 above 75.

The government authorities also made training of driver conductor and other staff in the bus before going for a tour to Amarnath.

For the safe side of the tourists, the government had also issued the helpline numbers in Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir to be contacted in case of emergency. Some other guidelines like stay and route of the tour, permit and other instruction for the safety and facility of passengers were included.

However, groups of tourists to Amarnath did not like this kind of arbitration of government. Some of the people also connected this circular of Gujarat government with the incapability of central government to protect tourists from terrro attacks.

The minister of state for home said, "We have decided to withdraw the circular been issued by the transport department. The opposition is taking this entire circular with the wrong perspective and central government led by the PM Narendra Modi is committed and capable of maintaining safety of pilgrims. The central government will provide all security to the pilgrims of Amarnath from Gujarat."
