Semester 1 students of B.Com, BBA, BA, B.Sc, MA and M.Com were baffled when their examination centre was changed at the last moment on Thursday.

While the university claims that the centre was changed because of the sudden visit of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) at one of its colleges, students allege that their one hour was wasted.

Himanshu Pandya, V-C, Gujarat University, said, "At the last moment, NAAC team members had a visit at one of the college. Since it is a technical issue, we had to cooperate with them. But none of the students suffered a loss in their exam hours.."

University also changed the seating arrangement a night before the BCom examination. The second phase of examination that was to begin on Thursday led students in chaos. Failing to take into account the actual capacity of examination centres, the department allocated a higher number of students to colleges leading to chaos. Eight government colleges wrote to the varsity that they will not be able to accommodate the higher number of students which forced the varsity to change the seating arrangement at night before the examination starts. More than 50,000 students appeared for exams at more than 70 centres.
