Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Monday that his government would study Maharashtra's model for Maratha quota to tackle reservation issues in the state.

"The Maharashtra government has just formally announced the Maratha reservation. We also have sought the details from there and will study the same for implementation in our government for upper castes."

Sources said the CM has called an urgent meeting on the issue on Tuesday. "The Maharashtra government is going to announce the reservation on December 1. We hope that the Gujarat government will also take a decision accordingly," a source said.

Meanwhile, leaders of Patel quota stir and members of Hardik Patel-led Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti tried to approach the OBC Commission of Gujarat. PAAS members reached the office of the chairman of the Commission, retired justice Sugnaben Bhatt, in Gandhinagar. PAAS member Nikhil Sawani said, "We had applied to the commission to do a survey of Patels. There has been no movement in that direction so we are here to appeal to the Commission again that the survey should be conducted soon."
