Gujarat: Thunderstorm lashes Amreli district, Savar Kundla

Besides Savar Kundla town, Liliya tehsil also received 25mm rains while around 10 mm rainfall was recorded in Amreli and Dhari tehsil each.

Savar Kundla in Amreli received 70mm rainfall in just one-and-a-half hour on Saturday that also flooded the local Navli river.

Besides Savar Kundla town, Liliya tehsil also received 25mm rains while around 10 mm rainfall was recorded in Amreli and Dhari tehsil each. A sudden change in atmosphere disturbed the common life for a while but then it was restored by the district administration.

High-velocity winds blew in the afternoon and the sky was clouded. Heavy rains lashed Savar Kundla and Liliya towns. An unused abandoned car also drowned in the flooding waters in Navli river. No casualty was reported. Lightening and thunderbolts also were reported in Bhavnagar and Amreli districts.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani talked to Amreli collector Aayush Oak and reviewed the condition. Speaking to DNA, Oak said, "We were prepared as a part of pre-monsoon planning, but no any major incident of casualty or injury have been reported in this storm. Navli river was flooded due to a sudden downpour. 

Liliya-Savar Kundla Road had two blockages due to trees collapsing, but the traffic is normal now. Power supply in some of the areas was stopped as a precautionary measure, but now it has been restored. "

"I briefed the chief minister on the rainfall and the thunderstorm. Our administration is fully prepared to combat the situation that may arise due to heavy rainfall or storm, however, there is no forecast of heavy rainfall so far." The collector also informed that the waterlogging in Savar Kundla and Liliya town was reported but the water has receded after the rain stopped. The health department staff has also been instructed to take required initiatives after the sudden heavy rainfall and waterlogging caused.
