"We may boycott these portals from Uttarayan onwards. We are writing a letter to them to renegotiate their commissions. If they do not agree for an amicable solution, we will boycott them," said Narendra Somani, president of Hotel and Restaurants Association – Gujarat (FRA-G).
FRA-G will, on Friday, send a letter to these portals and will give them a couple of days to respond. If no win-win formula arrives at their boycott will begin from Uttarayan, one of the most popular festivals in the state and people order Undhiyu from shops. With food delivery platforms now a rage, lots of orders are expected on the festive occasion.
If eateries boycott these portals, people will have to queue up at shops instead of flying kites on the day. Representatives of restaurants and eateries say that portals have increased commissions up to 18-24 per cent and some of them even charge 18 per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST) on 15 per cent service charge.
Food entrepreneurs say, if they pay such hefty charges, they will have nothing to earn.
