The LGBTs (Lesbian, Gays, Bisexual and Transgender) will organise a parade in the city on Sunday to press for their demand for same rights to gay couples as enjoyed by any other married couple.
Around 200 LGBTs from all over the country will participate in the first such rally in Gujarat. The parade will begin at 9:30 am from Court Complex at Athwalines and culminate at Kargil Chowk in Piplod.
The organisers have added political touch to the procession to make it more effective. They have prepared special banners stating that LGBTs will support only that party whose leader promises to take care of their rights.
“We are least interested in politics. What we want is that gay couples should have same rights as given to a married couple. Through the parade we want to spread the message that LGBTs too have the right to live with dignity in this society,” said Swagat Shah, one of the organizers of the event.
According to Shah, the parade will create a platform for LGBTs to raise their issues.
