After receiving nearly 1,000 complaints regarding mismanagement at the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) exam held on June 22 and 23 for admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD courses, the All India Agricultural Students Association (AIASA) sought a re-examination.

A circular issued by AIASA stated that they received over 1,000 emails reporting irregularities, cheating, fraud, and mismanagement of ICAR online examinations. ICAR's 23rd All India entrance examination for undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD admission was conducted online this year for the first time.

On June 22, an immediate response collection system across the country was launched by Ashwini Anand, Joint Secretary, Northeast zone, AIASA. More than 1,000 emails were received complaining about issues faced during examination by candidates.

Explaining the nature of the contents, the circular mentioned that some students did not get their admit cards even three days before the exam, whereas most of the students did not get their preferred centres and instead got centres located at distant places they did not opt for. There was no proper security check at the entrance of the examination hall and the students' identity were not verified either. At some centres, biometric was not working, at others, the number of computers was lesser than the number of candidates there. Students were also found using mobile phones in the absence of strict vigil. At the beginning of the exam, many students faced log in issues. Some questions had only two options whereas some had no options for answers, the circular read.

AIASA Gujarat State president Anurag Bhargav also stated in the letter that this type of a situation is not expected from any national-level exam. Our president along with the core committee members met the Director General of ICAR to update them about the problems, but they asked for proof instead. Due to this, AIASA is planning to stage a nationwide protest and demand re-examination.
