FSL to test blood samples of people who consumed the liquor to ascertain what affected them

In a press conference held on Thursday, senior police officers stated that the forensic reports of the victims of the hooch tragedy revealed no trace of methyl alcohol in their blood. Further analysis is on to figure out what the victims may have consumed that was poisonous.
The press conference was conducted by KLN Rao, Additional DG (Sector-1), Ashok Yadav, Additional CP (Sector-2), and JK Bhatt, Additional Director General Police (Crime branch).
"The FSL was asked to analyse the blood samples of the four victims of the alleged hooch tragedy on Wednesday. We got the report today and it shows no trace of methyl alcohol in the blood. Reports revealed 0.0004 ml was present in the samples, which is as good as nil," said Bhatt.
"It will take the FSL around three days to analyse what killed the victims," said Rao.
Four people from Sola village fell sick and were admitted to Asarwa Civil Hospital for treatment on Tuesday. Police suspect that hooch was responsible for the victim's health. The victim was identified as Mahesh Makwan (30), Pravin Senma (30), Dhiren Ganeshbhai (40), and Ajay Gupta (20). Out of the four, Mahesh and Pravin are in critical condition, while Ajay and Dhiren are stable.
One of the victims had bought six pouches of country-made liquor from a bootlegger identified as Ajay Dutt, a resident of Sola village on Tuesday night. Out of the six pouches, two were consumed by Pravin and Mahesh, while one was consumed by the other two. Cops have traced down the location of the source and further investigation is on.
More than 500 raids were conducted on Wednesday night after the incident came to light. Around 150 cases were lodged by police on the same day, and more than 20 bootleggers were nabbed by police from different parts of the city, including Sardarnagar, Charanagar, Kubernagar, Bapunagar, Asarwa, Naroda, Nikol, Sola, Sarkhej, etc.
In the past two months, around 64 cases of prohibition have been lodged by city police, where around 34,353 bottles of IMFL and 2114 litre of country-made liquor was seized. As per police, a total of the Rs 1.23 cr worth of liquor was seized.
Compared to last year, 800 more prohibition cases have been registered in 2018. Till June, around 8,033 prohibition cases were registered, where around Rs 2.52 cr worth of liquor was seized. In 2017, there were only 7,325 prohibition cases.
