Gujarat govt comes to rescue of 40 Sola Vidyapith students

Second-year students of Sola Bhagwat Vidyapith's BEd course will now be able to appear for exams at Somnath Sanskrit University. State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama on Wednesday asked Somnath Sanskrit University to allow the students to write their exams there.

Nearly 40 students pursuing BEd in Sola Bhagwat Vidyapith were left in a lurch after the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) did not grant them recognition. On Wednesday, Chudasama held a meeting with a trustee of Sola Bhagwat Vidyapith PK Lahiri, Regional Secretary of Sanskrit Bharati Jayshankar Raval, Gujarat University Vice-Chancellor Himanshu Pandya, and Sanskrit School Board Members, etc. He asked Somnath Sanskrit University authorities to make arrangements for the students.

Admissions

The Admissions Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) on Wednesday announced that students who have filled registration online and whose verification has been done can fill their choice of the first round by July 19. Students can opt for their own college as well.

Only 35 per cent of the students who registered for the MBA and MCA courses made it to the merit list. There are 108 MBA colleges in the state with a total of 8,979 seats. As many as 3,154 students had registered for the course, of which only 2,932 students made it to the merit list. For the 4,732 seats in 66 MCA colleges, a total of 1,455 students had registered, of which 1,415 made it to the list.
