The Gujarat government has blacklisted four agencies engaged in land resurvey task in the state, informed sources. The government took the decision after the land resurvey done by these entities across 6,000 villages was found to be faulty. There has been much opposition to the resurvey in rural parts of Gujarat.

Sources in the government said, "The government has blacklisted four agencies and they have also been asked to accomplish the land resurvey in a week in 6,000 villages with corrected measures. The decision has not been made public yet, but the procedures have been completed including sanction by the CM and revenue minister."

Revenue minister Kaushik Patel, however, could not be reached for comments, nor was the revenue secretary Pankaj Kumar available.

The state government had given contracts to nine agencies for land resurvey in all 18,000 villages. The agencies were supposed to survey all sorts of land including government, forest, private and others.

The revenue minister had addressed a press conference in Gandhinagar last month and clarified that the land resurvey was halted in all 6,000 villages. He, at that time, also had said that Chief Minister Vijay Rupani showed the concern when the delegations of farmers from different corners of the state made representations before him regarding the faulty resurvey.

The chief minister, on Monday, also constituted a committee for scarcity relief in the state. The government had declared Kutch district and 11 other talukas scarcity hit after the CM visited Kutch last week. The CM had also instructed the administration to start relief work from October 1. The state government's relief committee is headed by revenue minister Kaushik Patel.
