Gujarat government announce Rs 4L compensation for road accident victims

The Gujarat government has announced Rs 4 lakh compensation to the dependents of victims of road accident reported in Bhavnagar district on Tuesday. The government also decided to bear all the expenses of the injured. The incident was also discussed in the assembly on Tuesday.

The accident occurred in the morning, wherein the truck carrying 60 to 70 people going to attend a marriage ceremony, fell into a river from the bridge and 25 people were reported to have died on the spot. The Gujarat assembly sympathised with the family members of the victims, during the debate on the issue in zero hours.

Mahuva MLA RC Makwana moved the motion for debate over the issue in the house and that was accepted by the minister. The MLA said that the brutal accident took the lives of members of poor families of Koli community. He informed the house that all the people were going to Taatam village near Botad to attend marriage ceremony from Anida village near Palitana of Bhavnagar district, and the accident took place. He demanded assistance to victims from government.
