In a major operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 600 kg ganja, valued at Rs 2 crore, from Bharuch, and arrested five persons, including a woman from Ahmedabad, in this connection.

Hari Om Gandhi, zonal director of NCB, told reporters that they intercepted a truck near Narmada crossroad in Bharuch on Thursday night following a tip-off, and recovered the large consignment of ganja.

"The consignment would have been worth Rs 2 crore in the local market. It was brought from Odisha, and was supposed to be delivered to wholesalers in different parts of Gujarat," Gandhi said.

The NCB official said that two persons, who had brought the consignment to Gujarat in the truck, were arrested. They were identified as Promod Kumar and Sheesh Pal, both residents of Uttar Pradesh.

"One of them, a male, managed to flee, while we arrested the woman receiver, who has been identified as Kajal," Gandhi said.

Three vehicles, including the truck, a car and a two-wheeler, were seized in the operation, he added.
