In a poll-bound state where Patels are going to be a deciding factor to leading a political party's future, the BJP is feeling safe and secure in Anand city constituency. Local leaders in the constituency say they have worked for the people and introduced many projects.

"Several development projects have been implemented in the constituency. We have introduced all facilities and doing changes as per central government schemes. We have allotted around Rs10 crore for beautification of two lakes in city. All streetlights in city are LED and all areas have roads," said Vijay Patel, president pf Anand Nagarpalika.

"To increase the tree cover in city, we have planted 10,000 neem samplings this year. Taking ahead the agenda of development, we are going to make dust free zones in some pockets of city. We are also planning to make free Wi-Fi zones and extended them to constituency also," added Patel. Patel denied the fact that the Patidar agitation may damage their vote bank. "The Patels are loyal to the BJP, and here there is no issue of education or of unemployment. Moreover, we have worked so much for the people that people will vote for BJP and we will win with a majority," remarked Patel.

But, what local Congress people are saying is totally different. They claim that there is no development and few pockets where BJP have won wards at the municipality level.

"Not a single college has been constructed here during the rule of BJP. There is no proper health facility. Location of the civic hospital has been changed three times by them," said Ketan Barot, congress council at Anand municipality.

"There is a major parking issue here. Permission of building construction to their favourites and there is always extra favour in them. They are not giving proper drainage lines to the people. During monsoon some of the pockets face flooding situation," said Barot.

"There is a government-run hospital here, but the doctors hardly visit the place. The building is so bad and not maintained that people hardly visit that as the doctors are never been in the hospital. Also, there was not a single streetlight in the 1.2 km-stretch of Dandi Heritage Marg for a decade. We installed 60 electric polls just two months ago," added Barot. Barot also added that the rate of crimes have shot up in the area and there is absolutely no security for women in the area.
