In his attempt to woo voters ahead of the second and last phase of Gujarat Assembly polls, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi visited the Shree Ranchhodji Temple at Dakor on Sunday and offered a Dhaja here. Rahul who continues to eat at highway eateries while campaigning was also slated to offer prayers at Shamlaji Temple too.

Gandhi claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi frequently changed the election planks and now he is left with nothing to speak about. Rahul said a chaiwala told him that after GST was implemented, he has incurred a business loss of 50%. Rahul commented that most of the businessmen have voiced the same concern.

“I have been travelling here for last two months and meting a lot of people. They are sharing their plight with me. BJP started its poll propaganda with Narmada project, but people near the river have been opposing it. Then they took the right turn and and decided to discuss OBC issue. They failed on that and now they hav etaken a left turn,” he said.

On Vikas yatra, Rahul said, “I listened to the PM’s speech yesterday, 90% of which mentioned himself. This elections are not about him or me or BJP or Congress, but Gujarat and it’s people.”

He added, they don’t have anything to say about their 22 years of development as they haven’t done anything. Criticising Modi over his election rallies which run parallel to his public meetings ahead of the second phase of the polls, Gandhi accused the PM of not talking his future plans for the state and keeping mum on the issue of “corruption.”

He asked why PM was silent over agitations by various communities, including Patels, Dalits, anganwadi workers, among others.

Gandhi said that the truth had caught up with the BJP and it could go nowhere from here. When crowd started chanting feku..feku… Gandhi asked them to not use “wrong words” against the PM and said Congress will defeat him and the BJP with “love and sweet words”.

He attacked Modi over demonetisation and GST, besides raising the issue of BJP president Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah’s business dealings.
