The Congress and Patidar reservation outfit Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) said on Sunday that they had reached an agreement on providing reservation to Patidars, and quota stir leader Hardik Patel would make a formal announcement in Rajkot on Monday.

"We had a fruitful discussion with the PAAS leaders. We clarified their queries on issues that had stalled the talks the previous time, and have reached an agreement. The outcome of the meeting is positive," Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki told media-persons after meeting PAAS leaders.

From the Congress's side, Siddharth Patel and Babu Mangukiya took part in the talks, while the PAAS was represented by its conveners. However, Hardik himself did not take part in the meeting.

Solanki declined to share any further details of the agreement, saying that PAAS leader Hardik Patel would make an announcement on Monday.

Talking to reporters, PAAS convener Dinesh Bambhania too said that the Congress had accepted their demand for a quota in the Patidar community.

"Our and first and last concern is reservation. The Congress has accepted it. Hardik will make the details public in Rajkot tomorrow," he said, divulging nothing further.

In response to a question about the number of tickets sought by PAAS for the coming elections, Solanki claimed that the outfit had not sought any ticket. He said that neither OBC leader Alpesh Thakor, nor Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani had demanded any tickets either.

"However, keeping in mind the welfare and development of Gujarat, Congress will give tickets to them," Solanki said.

There are reports that say that Congress could give as many as 11 tickets to PAAS, including some of its leaders such as Lalit Vasoya (Dhoraji seat), Dilip Sabwa (Botad), Manoj Panara (Morbi), Kirit Patel (Patan) and Janak Talaviya among others.

Former MLA Dhiru Gajera, who had contested unsuccessfully on Congress's ticket in 2007 and 2012 assembly elections, is also believed to be in the fray for a ticket from PAAS's quota.
