The Gujarat Congress' conference to celebrate Panchayati Raj Day was held in Gandhinagar on Tuesday, in which party in-charge Rajiv Satav made this announcement.
The Congress has been gearing up for Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2019 and in the run-up to the same, the party had called this convention. Addressing the media, Satav said, "We will appoint janmitras at booth level in the next fifteen days. There will be five janmitras for each of the booths in Gujarat and they will be in live contact with the voters. They will propagate the ideology of the party and its vision among the masses through door-to-door contact."
Gujarat Congress chief Amit Chavda presented a schedule of the upcoming programmes of the party in the state. He said, "On Wednesday, April 25, the Congress will agitate against the Fee Regulation Committee (FRC) hogwash. On April 26, we will be agitating on behalf of the farmers and on April 29, a country-wide 'Jan Akrosh Rally' will be organised under the leadership of All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi."
The leader of opposition in Gujarat assembly, Paresh Dhanani, addressing the party workers said, "All our workers will have to understand the value of discipline and maintain the same. There is no space for a person who crosses the limits of discipline and damages the image of the party. The party will not hesitate to throw such persons out as it is the final order by chief Rahul Gandhi. He has also directed us to reward workers who are efficient."
